Lord John Robartes
His Regiment of Foote

Lord John Robartes
is a Parliamentary regiment of the Western Brigade of the Sealed Knot. We re-enact the period of the English Civil Wars, also called the Wars of Three Kingdoms, 1639-1652.

The original regiment was formed by Lord John Robartes, a prominent Member of Parliament, whose ancestoral seat was Lanhydrock in Cornwall. The regiment first saw action at Edgehill in October 1642 and fought through the war until it was merged with others at the foundation of the New Model Army under Cromwell.

The current regiment was established in 1991. Over the last decade we have established an excellent reputation for our accuracy of our 'Living History' side. If you are a budding actor you may like to know that we have a history of working with television. We are regular attendees at some of the premier heritage sites across the British Isles. We put on events of all sizes tailored to suit the location and the sponsor's requirements.

Lt Col Phil RogersWe are always on the lookout for new recruits to join our ranks. If you have an interest in either pike, musket or artillery we have an opening for you. If you would prefer a civilian option, either as a specialist in a particular area, or in a more general role we will be happy to give you all the support and advice you require. We also have a large number of children in the regiment who serve as 'apprentices' prior to their 16th birthdays. We are a family based regiment but we are very happy to welcome single people over the age of 16.

We actively recruit nationwide having members as far afield as Wick in Scotland, the Isle of Man and all other points of the compass. Wherever you are, there is probably a 'Robarte' in your area!

At events you will have plenty of opportunities to further your knowledge of the period as well as meeting new friends.

We hope you will join us.

Yours in the Cause
